4C Health Celebrates 2 Years of 4-Day Work Week

4C Health Still Going Strong with 4-Day Work Week Two Years In!!

The future of work in healthcare is here. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to work a 4-day work week for same annual wage and benefits as a 5-day workweek? In September of 2022, 4C Health implemented an innovative 4-day (32 hour) work week. In this model, employees work for 32 hours per week but are paid equivalent to 40 hour wage/salary. Time is the most valuable commodity we have in life, and for our current and future staff it was not a question of should we do this, it was a long overdue must.

We are celebrating 2 years of 4-day work week in September and show no signs of stopping!  Over 90% of our employees work a 4-day work week (4DWW). 4C Health has been very intentional in our regular data gathering regarding this new work model over the two years. We are excited to share our amazing outcomes two years in:

·         94% of employees surveyed are happy/love 4-day work week and do not want to return to 5 -day work week

·         Over 250,000 hours returned to employees lives outside of work over two years

·         94% of employees surveyed report reduction in burnout

·         91% of employees surveyed report positive life impact outside of work with 4-day work week

·         78% of employees surveyed report that working a 4-day work week has helped them and in turn improved the quality of care they are providing to others

·         4C Health has had no negative impacts to access to services. In fact, we have created more access to care through same-day access while under a 4-day work week.

·         Consumer surveys on perception of care (per star rating, 0-5 stars) has increased while under 4-day work week to 4.2 stars out 5

·         Total number of applicants and employees has increased

·         No negative impacts to business operations across two years

Dr. Carrie Cadwell, CEO of 4C Health had this to say, “Its indisputable, 4-day work week is a superior model for behavioral health workforce. Over two years of collecting data, our outcomes have only gotten better each time. I have said since the beginning that 4-day work week is not just a workforce model, it is public health intervention. What future plans do we have at 4C Health around 4-day work week? It’s simple and that is to eliminate the 5-day/40 hours work week for the well-being of our staff and consumers.”

Letecia Timmel, LCSW, Senior Clinical Therapist shares, “I cannot brag enough about the 4DWW and positive impacts it has had on my quality of life. Every week, I have an opportunity to reset and refresh because of that extra day off which allows me to show up the next week with the energy and enthusiasm I want to have in my work. The work we do is emotionally and mentally draining and it is exciting to work in an organization and environment that not only supports self-care but promotes it through action.”

4C Health is the only Community Mental Health Center and Behavioral Health employer to have achieved 4-day work week at this scale and duration in our nation.

4C Health is also celebrating 50 years in North Central Indiana communities. In gratitude for the 1st 50 years, with vision for the next 50 years! To learn more about our 50th anniversary click this link to watch a short video https://youtu.be/s7Ua2HNk8E4?si=VMqtFDGRk79Rn608
